Things to do in Bali (Part 1) Tegenungan - Penglipuran - Kintamani - Ubud Area
September 24, 2022Ola!
The current weather in Bali is very humid. It was raining for the last few days. We decided to stay and no plan to go outside. Maybe just to the shopping mall tomorrow. 😄So because now I'm not busy at all, I will continue to write about #lifeinbaliseries.

1. Tegenungan Waterfall

The waterfall
The location is in Gianyar, it's around 30 km from Denpasar. The entrance fee is IDR 20K/pax for local and foreigners. It's very easy to access (We've been to another waterfall and it was very tiring because it's hard :D). They have a bar and pool. So you can just go and swim in the waterfall and then chilling in the bar or swim there. It's a nice place with the fresh air and very natural. We didn't go to the bar at that time but we enjoyed our time in the waterfall. We took pictures and playing with the water :D. one more thing, this is a touristic area so you can see there are so many stalls selling souvenirs. Nice tho.

2. Penglipuran Village
Honestly, I didn't know about this one before but during the pandemic, I saw news about the cleanest village in Bali. Because of the curiosity we decided to visit here.

The entrance fee is IDR 35K/local and IDR 50K/Foreigner. This is a traditional village and yep it's true that this village is very clean. They said there are around 85 Family's Head living in this village. At that time we were just strolling around but then we visited one of the local family and interact with them. This village is protecting the tradition so the house concept is very Balinese. It's a nice place to visit and it's very quite. (at that time coz I believe now so many tourists already)
3. Kintamani Area
We visited Kintamani before this trip but we only went to the Lake. I will create another itinerary in my next post tho. We actually went to Kintamani for having lunch. Before heading to the restaurant, we stopped by to see Mt. Batur from afar. We went for hiking in Mt. Batur few years ago so it's like this trip bring back our memories about that. Ah, I will also write about that in the next post coz that was such an unforgettable memories.

Back to the story, We continued our trip and heading to the restaurant. I forgot the name of the resto but they have buffet and the fee is IDR 350K/2 pxs. I could see the breathtaking view from our spot. You can see Mt. Batur with the black sand because of the lava, Mt. Agung and Lake Batur from this resto. There are plenty of restaurants or cafes that you can choose as well. It depends on your preference.

4. Tirta Empul Temple & Holy Spring Water
After our stomach full and feeling recharged, we continued our journey. It's not our first time because few years ago we came here. As usual it was full of people because it's said because of the full moon. That's why many people come to the temple to pray and give offerings to the Gods.

Praying
If you come here, you will see many people in the water. The procession is called "Melukat". It's a ritual to clean your mind and soul spiritually. It's actually the ritual to purify yourself. If you wanna do it just ask how to do it in order because you can't just jump to the water and do as you wish. Do as Romans do okay! 😉 They will guide you step by step to do that.

We didn't bring clothes so we just wash our face
Before that remember to wear proper clothes as no short pants or mini skirts are allowed to visit the temple. But don't worry, they also prepare Balinese sheets just in case. They do this because it's a place for them to pay respect to their gods. Then you can see how they pray and give offerings to their gods. After that you can see the fish in the pool. It's a nice cultural journey to do.

5. Coffee Plantation and the Luwak
At first, I didn't remember but then I noticed actually we've been here before. Yup that's our second time visiting this coffee plantation. The first visit we only bought a cup of Luwak coffee but this time we bought so many coffees and teas to bring to Portugal 😝.
In this place you can see how they make a Luwak Coffee. You can see the animal itself. They will show and explain how the process to make the coffees. It's done manually from the seeds, roasting it until it becomes coffee powder. Interesting!

After that you can sit back and relax. They will prepare complementary drinks for you. They will give you 15 different types of coffees and teas to try for free. It's very nice so you can decide which one that you wanna buy. You can order a cup of coffee luwak IDR 50K if you want and some Indonesian snacks like Pisang goreng (Banana fritters). After relaxing and enjoying we decided to buy coconut coffee, Vanilla coffee, Ginger tea and Bali coffee and cocoa. The price is around IDR 360K for 4 items.

6. Tegal Alang Rice Terrace
The last destination for the day. We came here few years ago. Unfortunately It was much nicer few years ago. They said the plants didn't get enough water because of the water distribution is broken. It looks so sad. Hope they will fixed it asap and it will get better.

We didn't stay for too long here tho. We just wanna brings back memories. But here's the video to refresh you :D
Then we decided to stroll around Ubud area to enjoy our time. We did short trip to Ubud area because we are living in Denpasar area and we didn't want to waste money just to do staycation there coz we have our own place :D
It was such a short trip for the day but it was fun. We visited some new places and recalled some memories in the places that we re-visited. So where to go next in Bali?
For the next post I will give you another itinerary for a day in Bali for visiting Handara Gate, Ulun Danu Beratan Temple etc.
Ate ja!
